Modern Day Poultry Farming in Nigeria Poultry Farming has become one of the most lucrative Nigerian businesses, and is arguably the big thing in Nigerian agriculture. Many big businesses, entrepreneurs, retired uncles, job seekers and Nigerians living overseas are making inroads into the sector, either to pursue their keen interest in livestock farming or to rake in big money. For the residents of Gabon Camp in Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area, life is brutish, hard and unforgiving. Their daily existence typifies the Hobbesian state of nature, where life is savagely cruel with daily struggle for survival as a permanent feature. It may sound strange that there is a Gabon camp in Enugu, Nigeria but it has nothing to do with the Republic of Gabon, a sovereign state on the west coast of Central Africa, bordering Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, the Republic of the Congo to the east and south, and the Gulf of Guinea to the west. The Gabon camp in Enugu is a settlement with no access road, health facility, either owned by government or private, no potable water, school or electricity. The board said that the facial match recognition was carried out by its specialised software and Information Technology experts. In a statement made available to Igbere TV by JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, he added that the Nigerian Navy Secondary School centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State, had been suspended for “acts not acceptable by the board.” Full Statement, “Following th...

AN AGRIPRENEUR...WHO IS HE...?

Image
An agripreneur  is an entrepreneur who basically focuses on agricultural products and services. They are a new breed of entrepreneurs that transform their Passion for agriculture into business. They focus on the marketing and distribution of farm outputs. Most people normally associate the word agripreneur with farming but not all agripreneurs are farmers. Some successful agripreneurs do not even have farms yet they earn a fortune . Why? Its because they have identified that there are several forms of opportunities in the field that are not limited to tilling the earth, and loading it with seeds; they have discovered the art of value addition, processing, etc as other viable means of being agriculturists. They are good at identifying these opportunities, they are diligent, resilient, hard working, and they are risk takers; they are agripreneurs. Seventy percent of employment in Africa comes from agriculture, so you can argue that, in Africa, agriculture and economy are synony...
